CURRENT AFFAIRS OF 25th JUNE, 2023

  1. International Day of the Seafarer, a special day dedicated to all those who work closely with salt water, including Coast Guards, Navies, fishermen, marine biologists, and cruise ship captains is annually observed on 25 June to acknowledge the crucial role played by seafarers in international trade, the global economy, and society as a whole. The theme of 2023 International Day of the Seafarer is “MARPOL at 50 – Our commitment goes on”.   
  2. An ‘Ocean Ring of Yoga’ was formed by the Indian Navy on International Day of Yoga, under which naval ships deployed in the Indian Ocean region visited various ports in friendly foreign countries to strengthen bonds and foster harmony among nations and spread the message of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family) .
  3. The Ministry of Railways in India has entered into an agreement with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to accelerate the progress of eco-friendly energy solutions and encourage the use of electric vehicles.
  4. President Droupadi Murmu appointed Justice (Retd.) Umesh Kumar of Allahabad High Court as the Chairperson of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC).
  5. The iPhone maker, Apple Inc is planning to tie up with HDFC Bank to bring its credit card, also known as Apple Card to its Indian customers.
  6. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on 22 June, 2023 inaugurated the Medha Rail Coach Factory, the largest private coach factory in India, located in Kondakal, Shankarpally mandal of Rangareddy district.
  7. Paytm Payment Services Limited (PPSL) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Arunachal Pradesh Innovation and Investment Park (APIIP) to establish a thriving startup ecosystem for the youth in the northeastern state.
  8. The Indian cabinet has given its approval to US chipmaker Micron Technology’s plan to invest $2.7 billion to set up a semiconductor testing and packaging unit in Gujarat.  
  9. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has inaugurated the construction of the ‘Balidan Stambh’ in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, 24 June, 2023.

  11. According to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU)’s Global Liveability Index 2023 report, Vienna, Austria has once again claimed the top spot as the best city to live in worldwide.
  12. Cristiano Ronaldo has received a Guinness World Record after reaching 200 international caps for Portugal.
  13. Google Cloud launched AI-powered anti-money laundering tool for banks.
  14. The Central Government has allocated Rs.145 crore to Nagaland for the construction of a Unity Mall in Dimapur.
  15. Mahendra Lodha has been appointed as interim Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PTC India Financial Services Ltd (PFS).
  16. According to Hurun India’s 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 list, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Ltd is placed at the top, marking it as the most valuable private company in India. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and HDFC Bank took second and third places respectively.
